As a "rule of thumb" Unique Hair and Neer Hair are great for smaller flies and jigs up to about 4-5 inches long. The Super Hair has more body and is great for larger flies and jigs up to 8 inches long while bulk nylon is often used for jigs up to 11 inches long. Super Hair

Use this fine diameter synthetic fiber as a great substitute for bucktail in your medium to large streamers and jigs. Add length, movement, and durability to any of your fly patterns, with Super Hair's long, crimped fibers which retain their shape better than other materials.  Super Hair has been designed to gather and reflect light, creating a glowing effect that imitates the scales of a bait fish.

Use this tremendous fly tying material for longer wings, and longer, more textured and flashier tails. Catch more fish on each fly thanks to Super Hair's action in the water, its translucent fish like crimp, and its superior durability (especially when catching toothy species of fish).  Add another dimension of realism by coloring Super Hair with a permanent marker. Super Hair is a great material for Clousers, Deceivers, Surf Candy patterns, and large jigs, and is very effective for stripers, bluefish, small tuna,flounder, mackerel, bonefish, tarpon, barracuda, redfish, seatrout,and cobia.  You can even use this material for wings on small trout patterns.

Unique Hair

Unique Hair is a softer and smaller diameter cousin of Super Hair (shown above), and it has the same amazing characteristics as Super Hair. And like Super Hair, it accepts permanent marker well.  Visually, it looks almost identical to Super Hair, except that it is a thinner and more supple fiber.  Unique Hair is excellent for bonefish, sailfish, pike, muskellunge, trout, bass and other species.  Unique Hair comes in similar colors as Super Hair.  Retail customers can purchase Unique Hair in individual packages.  Distributors, dealers, and manufacturers can purchase Unique Hair in individual packages or in bulk.

Neer Hair

Softer than bucktail, stiffer than marabou, lightweight Neer Hair's ultra fine fibers have just the right action to make your streamer patterns come to life.  Dress up your flies with a permanent marker, comb out Neer Hair's fine fibers with Velcro or a small brush, or use Neer Hair in a dubbing brush to add those finishing touches.  Make long casts effortlessly due to its water shedding properties.  While loved by saltwater fishermen, Neer Hair offers a virtually endless variety of uses in all types of flies and jigs.  Use it on everything from wings on dry flies to winging material on streamer flies to crappie jigs.  Neer Hair comes in 11 inch lengths (which are doubled over and tie wrapped for a total material length of 22 inches) and a variety of colors.  Retail customers can purchase Neer Hair in individual packages.  Distributors, dealers, and manufacturers can purchase Neer Hair in individual packages or in bulk.

Bulk Nylon

This is a heavy nylon synthetic hair with a deep crimp. This nylon is very popular for larger fly patterns and jigs used for Striper, Cobia, and other species.  It can only be purchased direct from Bestway Outdoor in bulk. When ordering specify the 8 inch or the 11 inch lengths.  Bulk Nylon comes in many of the same colors as Super Hair and Unique Hair.
